Zuma is a tile game released by PopCap Games. It can be played for free online on several websites and has been published on several platforms, including PDAs, mobile phones and iPods.
An improved version called Zuma Deluxe has been released for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, as well as Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3.
Zuma received RealArcade’s 2004 Game Award.
Left 4 Dead is a multiplayer survival horror game developed by Valve South and released by Valve. The game uses Valve Source’s own engine and is available for Windows, Xbox 360 and OS X. Development of the game was completed on November 13, 2008, and two versions have been released digitally: The digital download version was released on November 17, 2008, and the version on the digital retail disc, with the release date determining the range. A detailed version of the digital discs was released in North America and Australia on November 18, 2008; and in Europe on 21 November 2008.
Set in a world of zombies, the game sets its four protagonists, who inspire the “Survivors,” after infected hordes. There are four game modes: single player mode, where ancillary characters are controlled by AI; four-player campaign mode; co-op; eight players online against space; and a four-player survival mode. In all situations, artificial intelligence (AI), called a “Director,” controls the tempo of object levels and locations in an attempt to create a dynamic experience and increase the value of repetition.
Left 4 Dead has been well received in the media sector since its inception, thanks to its repetition, focus on collaborative games and film-like experience. Several criticisms have been leveled at the limited choice and absence of storytelling. The game has won several awards for publications as well as awards from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. As with Team Fortress 2, Valve completes the game with free, downloadable content. The first, called the “Survival Pack,” was released on April 21, 2009. The second song, DLC, was downloaded to Xbox Live, and released as a new ad campaign called “Crash Course,” released for both PC and Xbox 360 on September 29, 2009. Left 4 were published. Died for Mac on October 28, 2010.
The popularity of the game led to the development of a further development, Left 4 Dead 2, which was released on November 17, 2009. A new map of Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, called “Victim,” was released on October 5, 2010. In July 2012, all Left 4 Dead campaigns Left 4 for Dead 2 in multiplayer with multi-platform support between Windows and Mac versions of the game.
